  • Compare performance across multiple forms
  • Optimize for better conversion rates
  • Make informed decisions about form design

Understanding Rates #

Conversion Rate #

Formula: (Total Completions ÷ Total Unique Viewers) × 100

What It Measures: The percentage of form viewers who complete and submit your form.

Benchmark:

  • 10-15%: Average conversion rate
  • 15-25%: Good conversion rate
  • 25%+: Excellent conversion rate

How to Improve:

  • Simplify form design
  • Reduce number of fields
  • Add progress indicators
  • Improve form copy and instructions

Completion Rate #

Formula: (Total Completions ÷ Total Starters) × 100

What It Measures: The percentage of users who started your form and successfully completed it.

Interpretation:

  • High completion rate (70%+): Form is well-designed and user-friendly
  • Medium completion rate (40-70%): Room for optimization
  • Low completion rate (<40%): Significant friction points exist

How to Improve:

  • Review field-level analytics to identify drop-off points
  • Simplify complex questions
  • Remove unnecessary required fields
  • Add helpful instructions and tooltips

Abandon Rate #

Formula: (Total Abandons ÷ Total Starters) × 100

Warning Signs:

  • Abandon rate above 60%: Urgent optimization needed
  • Sudden spikes in abandon rate: Recent changes may have introduced problems
  • High abandons on specific fields: Individual fields need attention

How to Reduce:

  • Use field-by-field analytics to find problem areas
  • Consider making some fields optional
  • Break long forms into multiple steps
  • Test form on different devices

Analytics in Test Mode vs Live Mode #

FORMEPIC includes a powerful test mode feature that keeps test submissions separate from real user data.

Test Mode Analytics: #

Purpose: Experiment with analytics features using sample data without affecting live metrics.

Features:

  • Pre-populated with realistic dummy data
  • Safe environment to explore analytics dashboard
  • Test date filtering and export features
  • Learn the analytics interface without risk

How to Enable:

  1. Toggle “Test Mode” switch in the top navigation
  2. Dummy forms and sample analytics data appear
  3. All features work identically to live mode
  4. Test mode badge indicates active status

What’s Included:

  • Sample forms across all types (Forms, Surveys, Polls, Quizzes, etc.)
  • Realistic metrics and conversion rates
  • Field-level response data
  • Payment analytics (for payment-enabled forms)

Live Mode Analytics: #

Purpose: Track real user interactions and actual form performance.

Features:

  • Real-time data updates
  • Actual user responses and behaviors
  • Accurate conversion tracking
  • Production-ready insights

Switching Between Modes:

  • Use the Test Mode toggle in navigation
  • Changes are immediate
  • No data cross-contamination
  • Analytics interface remains consistent

Best Practices: #

  1. Start with test mode to familiarize yourself with analytics features
  2. Use test mode when training team members
  3. Switch to live mode for actual performance monitoring
  4. Never make business decisions based on test mode data
  5. Verify you’re in the correct mode before reviewing metrics

Requirements #

  • Active FORMEPIC account
  • At least one published form (for live analytics)
  • Form must have a submit button or payment field
  • Browser cookies enabled for accurate viewer tracking

Tips and Tricks #

  1. Set baseline metrics: Record initial analytics to measure improvement over time
  2. Regular monitoring: Check analytics weekly to spot trends early
  3. Compare similar forms: A/B test different versions to find what works best
  4. Use date ranges strategically: Filter by campaign periods to measure marketing effectiveness
  5. Focus on completion rate first: It’s often easier to improve than conversion rate
  6. Export data regularly: Keep records for long-term trend analysis
  7. Cross-reference with goals: Ensure your analytics align with business objectives
  8. Watch for anomalies: Sudden changes in metrics may indicate technical issues

Important Notes #

  • Analytics data updates in real-time as new responses are submitted
  • Unique viewers are tracked using browser sessions (clearing cookies resets count)
  • Test mode submissions are never included in live analytics
  • Date range filters apply to submission timestamps, not form creation dates
  • Forms must be published and accessible to generate analytics
  • Analytics are only visible to form creators and team members with access
  • Payment analytics require forms with payment fields enabled
  • Exported data reflects the currently selected date range

Common Issues & Troubleshooting #

Issue: No Analytics Data Showing #

Possible Causes:

  • Form hasn’t been viewed yet
  • Test mode is enabled (no live data)
  • Incorrect date range filter applied

Solutions:

  1. Verify form is published and accessible
  2. Check if test mode toggle is OFF for live analytics
  3. Reset date range filter to “All Time”
  4. Share form to generate views and responses

Issue: Viewer Count Seems Inaccurate #

Possible Causes:

  • Multiple views from same user in different sessions
  • Browser cookie blocking
  • Incognito/private browsing mode users

Solutions:

  • Understand that unique viewers tracks browser sessions, not individuals
  • Encourage users to enable cookies for accurate tracking
  • Use completion rate as a more reliable metric for engaged users

Issue: High Abandon Rate #

Possible Causes:

  • Form is too long or complex
  • Required fields causing friction
  • Poor mobile experience
  • Confusing instructions

Solutions:

  1. Review field-by-field analytics to identify drop-off points
  2. Consider making some required fields optional
  3. Simplify complex questions
  4. Test form on mobile devices
  5. Add progress indicators for multi-step forms

Issue: Can’t Access Individual Form Analytics #

Possible Causes:

  • No responses submitted yet
  • Insufficient permissions
  • Form was deleted

Solutions:

  1. Verify form has at least one response (test or live)
  2. Check account permissions
  3. Ensure form still exists in “Created” page

Issue: Conversion Rate Seems Low #

Possible Causes:

  • Form is too long
  • Unclear value proposition
  • Poor form placement or visibility
  • Technical issues preventing submission

Solutions:

  1. Reduce number of fields
  2. Improve form introduction and copy
  3. Add trust signals (security badges, testimonials)
  4. Test form submission process for errors
  5. Use preview mode to test end-to-end experience

Issue: Date Range Filter Not Working #

Possible Causes:

  • Browser cache issues
  • Invalid date selection
  • No data in selected range

Solutions:

  1. Clear browser cache and reload page
  2. Verify date range includes submission dates
  3. Try selecting “All Time” to see all data
  4. Check that forms have responses in the selected period
