How to Use the AI Assistant #

Step 1: Access the AI Assistant #

While editing any form in the builder, locate the AI Assistant button in the Field Palette on the left side. It’s marked with a sparkle icon (✨). Click it to open the AI Assistant dialog.

Step 2: Describe What You Need #

In the prompt field, describe the question or field you want to add. The AI understands natural language, so be specific about:

• Field Purpose: What information you’re collecting (e.g., “email address,” “satisfaction rating,” “product feedback”)
• Field Type: The type if you have a preference (e.g., “multiple choice question,” “text field,” “rating scale”)
• Context: Where it should go (e.g., “at the end,” “after the email field,” “on page 2”)
• Special Requirements: Any specific needs (e.g., “with 5 options,” “required field,” “with help text”)

Example prompts:

• “Add a signature field at the end of page 1”
• “Create a multiple choice question about customer satisfaction with 5 rating options”
• “Add an email field after the name field”
• “Create 3 questions about product quality for a customer feedback survey”

Step 3: Choose Single or Multiple Questions #

Toggle the “Multiple Questions” switch if you want the AI to generate several related questions from your prompt. This is useful for:

• Creating complete form sections (e.g., “Add questions about shipping experience”)
• Building quiz sections (e.g., “Create 5 questions about company history”)
• Generating survey batteries (e.g., “Add rating questions for product features”)

Leave it off if you need just one specific field.

Step 4: Review Generated Questions #

After clicking “Add Question,” the AI generates fields and shows you a review dialog. For each generated question, you’ll see:

• The question label and field type
• Answer options (for multiple choice, radio, checkbox fields)
• Correct answers and point values (for quiz questions)
• Payment amounts and currency (for payment fields)

Step 5: Accept or Reject Questions #

Review each generated question individually:

• Single Question: Click “Accept” to add it or “Reject” to cancel and try a different prompt
• Multiple Questions: Select which questions to keep by clicking “Accept” on each one, then click “Add Selected” to add only your chosen questions
• Reject All: Click “Reject All” to discard all generated questions and try again with a different prompt

Accepted questions are added to your form at the appropriate location specified in your prompt or at the end by default.

Step 6: Iterate as Needed #

Continue using the AI Assistant to add more fields throughout your form-building process. Each prompt is independent, so you can add different types of fields progressively.

Tips & Tricks #

• Be specific about field placement in your prompt (e.g., “at the top,” “after the email field,” “on page 2”)
• Mention the form type context for better field suggestions (e.g., “for a customer feedback survey,” “for a job application”)
• Use “Multiple Questions” mode to generate complete form sections quickly
• Specify the number of options you want for multiple choice questions (e.g., “with 5 answer options”)
• For quiz questions, mention that you need correct answers and the AI will configure them automatically
• Review all generated fields before accepting—you can selectively accept only the questions you want
• Use specific industry terminology if relevant to get more appropriate field suggestions
• Try different phrasings if the first result isn’t quite right—the AI learns from context
• Combine AI Assistant with manual editing for best results—add fields with AI, then fine-tune settings manually

Important Notes #

• The AI Assistant generates new fields—it doesn’t modify existing fields in your form
• Always review generated questions before accepting them to ensure accuracy and relevance
• The AI may not fully understand highly specialized or technical domain requirements
• Generated fields can be edited after insertion using the standard field settings panel
• Placement instructions in prompts are interpreted intelligently but may not always be exact
• For quizzes, verify that correct answers and point values match your grading criteria
• Multiple questions mode may generate 2-5 related questions depending on your prompt
• Rejected questions cannot be recovered—you’ll need to generate them again

Common Issues & Troubleshooting #

Issue: AI Assistant generates wrong field type for my needs

Solution: Be more specific in your prompt about the field type you want. Instead of “add a question about email,” try “add an email text input field” or “add a multiple choice question about email preferences.” You can also manually change the field type after insertion.

Issue: Generated questions don’t appear in the expected location

Solution: Be more specific about placement in your prompt using field labels or page numbers. For example, “add after the ‘Full Name’ field” or “add at the top of page 2.” If placement is still incorrect, you can manually drag and drop fields to reorder them after insertion.

Issue: Multiple questions mode generates too many or too few questions

Solution: Specify the exact number you want in your prompt (e.g., “create 3 questions about…” instead of “create questions about…”). The AI typically generates 3-5 questions when asked for “multiple” without a specific number.

Issue: Quiz questions missing correct answers or point values

Solution: Explicitly mention in your prompt that you need a quiz question with correct answers. For example, “Create a quiz question about state capitals with the correct answer marked” or “Add a 10-point question about company history.” You can also set these values manually after generation.

Issue: Generated answer options not relevant to my use case

Solution: Provide more context in your prompt about your specific industry, audience, or purpose. Instead of “add a question about industry,” try “add a question about industry with options for SaaS, e-commerce, healthcare, and education.” The more specific your prompt, the more relevant the options.

Issue: Cannot find the AI Assistant button

Solution: Look for the sparkle icon (✨) in the Field Palette on the left side of the builder. It should be clearly visible alongside other field types. If you still can’t find it, try refreshing the page or checking that you’re in the form builder (not preview mode).
