How to Customize Your Form Settings in FORMEPIC

3 minute read

Control Every Aspect of Your Form Experience #

FORMEPIC gives you three powerful ways to create forms. Create Using AI generates forms instantly—describe what you need, paste a URL to extract content, or upload a document to convert into a form automatically. Create from scratch gives you a blank canvas for complete creative control. Import existing lets you bring forms from other providers by pasting their URL, preserving all your questions and logic without manual recreation.

Once your form is created, customization settings put you in the driver’s seat. Control visual elements like titles and descriptions, add or remove branding, set time limits to create urgency, and manage exactly when your form accepts submissions. Every setting is designed to work together, giving you a professional form that matches your needs perfectly.

Accessing Form Settings #

  1. Open your form in the Builder
  2. Look for the right sidebar panel
  3. Click on the Settings tab
  4. You’ll see settings organized into clear sections

Display Settings #

Control the visual elements that appear on your form to create the perfect first impression for your respondents.

Show Title #

Toggle to display or hide your form’s title at the top of the page. The title helps respondents understand the purpose of your form at a glance.

Show Description #

Toggle to display or hide your form’s description. Descriptions provide helpful context and instructions for respondents before they begin filling out your form.

FORMEPIC Branding #

Choose whether to display FORMEPIC branding on your form. Removing branding creates a more white-label experience that focuses entirely on your brand.

Form Time Limit #

Add urgency and prevent abandonment by setting a maximum time allowed to complete your form. This feature works in conjunction with the Timer field to enforce completion deadlines.

Time Limit (seconds) #

Set the maximum number of seconds respondents have to complete your form. Leave this field empty if you don’t want any time restrictions.

  • Minimum value: 1 second
  • Recommended: 300-900 seconds (5-15 minutes) for most forms
  • Works with Timer field to display countdown to users
  • Form submission is automatically disabled when time expires

Time Limit Message #

Customize the message shown to respondents when the time limit expires. This field only appears when you’ve set a time limit. Default message: “Time’s up! Form submission has been disabled.”

Pro Tip: Add a Timer field to your form to display a visual countdown. This creates urgency and helps respondents manage their time effectively.

Form Status Settings #

Control when your form accepts submissions with powerful status management. See the “Changing Survey Status and Properties” article for comprehensive details on status settings.

The Form Status section includes:

  • Enabled: Form is active and accepting submissions
  • Disabled: Form is closed with a custom message
  • Conditionally Enabled: Automatically close based on submission limit or date

Tips and Tricks #

  • Hide titles for embedded forms if the title already appears on your website
  • Use form descriptions to set expectations about completion time and required information
  • Remove FORMEPIC branding for a professional white-label experience
  • Set time limits for time-sensitive offers like flash sales or limited registrations
  • Test time limits thoroughly before publishing to ensure the duration is realistic
  • Combine time limits with conditional logic for complex form behavior
  • Use the AI Assistant to get suggestions for optimal time limit settings

Important Notes #

  • Display settings take effect immediately and don’t require saving
  • Status settings require clicking “Save Form Status Settings” to apply changes
  • Time limit countdown starts when the form is loaded, not when the user starts typing
  • Timer fields must be added separately to display the countdown to users
  • Branding removal may require a paid subscription plan
  • All settings persist across form edits and republishing
  • Settings are specific to each form and don’t affect other forms

Common Issues & Troubleshooting #

Title or Description Not Showing #

Check that the “Show Title” or “Show Description” toggle is enabled in Display Settings. Also verify that you’ve actually entered a title or description in the form header.

Time Limit Not Working #

Ensure you’ve entered a valid number in the Time Limit field and added a Timer field to your form. The timer only enforces the limit when a Timer field is present.

Time Limit Message Not Appearing #

Verify that the time limit has actually expired and that you’ve entered a custom message. Clear your browser cache and test in an incognito window.

Branding Still Showing After Disabling #

Ensure your subscription plan includes branding removal. If you have the right plan, try clearing your browser cache or viewing in incognito mode.

Settings Reverting After Save #

Check your internet connection during saves. If issues persist, try a different browser or contact support with specific details about which settings are reverting.

Form Still Accepting Submissions When Disabled #

Make sure you clicked “Save Form Status Settings” after changing the status. The form must be published for status changes to take effect.
